For nearly two decades, Suzanne Zoltan has worked as Jewish educator, teacher, and tutor.
Drawing on her own experience as a “reluctant” learner, she’s developed a unique, modernized approach to B-Mitzvah preparation, enabling her students to embrace and master the traditional skills that pave the way for a meaningful (and stress-free) experience.
The net result is that her students prepare for, perform, and take great pleasure in their B-Mitzvahs.
Having worked with hundreds of learners, Suzanne tailors her material, methods, and approach for each client. In crafting lesson plans and modes of engagement, she factors in student aptitude and objectives, motivation level, learning style, and, where applicable, learning challenges.
She excels at working with reluctant participants or those with learning differences or special needs.
“I can take kids who’ve never seen a Hebrew letter, and have them reading key prayers, leading the service, and chanting their Torah portion — all by working together over Zoom, in 30-minute sessions.”

Suzanne tutored my son for his Bar Mitzvah and she was incredible.
She cares so much and had so much patience with my him.
She is an amazing teacher and loves her students.
— BrookeMy daughter worked with Suzanne to prepare for her Bat Mitzvah, and it was an amazing experience for all of us. We felt so lucky to have been matched up.
In my daughter's own words: ‘Because of my dyslexia, it makes it a lot harder for me to read, especially in another language. During our first session, when Suzanne was teaching me the Hebrew alphabet, she used hand gestures that helped me really understand and learn it.
When it came to me learning my Torah portion, Suzanne broke it all down in a way that made a lot of sense and was easy to learn.
Working with her was so easy. Not only was she an amazing teacher, but she was also always up for extra lessons. Working with her was effortless and fun!’

But she was determined to partake in this tradition, just as her older sister had done three years earlier. As parents we were terrified she would be unsuccessful, and have her spirit squashed. Then we found Suzanne.
After their first zoom meeting, my daughter came out of her room with a big smile on her face and said: “She gets me!”
Suzanne was patient and supportive. When our daughter had moments of self-doubt, Suzanne her insecurity into confidence. Suzanne has developed a unique method to teach trope using hand movements, which helped our daughter actually learn her Torah portion, rather than just memorizing it.
Suzanne always shared progress updates with me, which I really appreciated.
My daughter’s special day was a huge success thanks to Suzanne. She was so prepared and confident as she stepped onto the Bima. She was able to relax, be present and really enjoy the whole experience.
Two years later my son worked with Suzanne as well. He also had a wonderful experience.
I highly recommend Suzanne as a tutor — she was a life saver for us!

I cannot speak highly enough about Suzanne and the incredible impact she has had on our family. My daughter Charlotte, who has both dyslexia and dysgraphia, had struggled with reading for years. Traditional methods just didn’t work for her, and we were starting to lose hope that Hebrew would ever be accessible to her — until we found Suzanne.
Suzanne's specialized approach to teaching Hebrew to children with learning differences was nothing short of transformative. With patience, creativity, and a deep understanding of how neurodiverse children learn, she helped Charlotte break down Hebrew letters and sounds in a way that finally made sense. For the first time, Charlotte was able to read Hebrew — not just memorize, but understand it. Watching her confidence grow through this process was truly heartwarming.
But Suzanne didn’t stop there. Charlotte’s twin brother, who is on the autism spectrum and also has ADHD, also began working with her. Once again, Suzanne adapted her teaching style to meet his unique needs, using visual aids, structured routines, and gentle encouragement. His engagement and progress exceeded all our expectations.
Suzanne's dedication, warmth, and skill make her not just a teacher, but a true partner in your child’s learning journey. She sees each child as an individual and brings out the very best in them. We are endlessly grateful for her support, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to any family with children who learn differently. Suzanne is a rare gem.
